K-9 POLICE DOGS

POLICE SERVICE DOGS, commonly called K-9’s, are among Fresno police officers’ best partners. They locate evidence, explosives, and narcotics and assist in the capture of dangerous felons.

There are currently 14 K-9’s in service, including 4 dogs that have served our community for more than 7 years. After a life of fearlessly protecting Fresno police officers and citizens from dangerous criminals, these dogs deserve to retire. However, without proper funding to replace them, the police department still desperately needs them to continue working. The foundation would like to fund the purchase and training of 4 new dogs to replace the older K-9’s who are near the end of their useful service lives. The Fresno Police Chief’s Foundation is counting on benefactors like you to help us reach this goal, which will allow older K-9’s the chance to live out their lives in honorable retirement and will provide a new generation of K-9’s the opportunity to serve our community.
